Introduction
When using dotloop’s interactive forms, you may run into deals where you need to provision a form for more than the standard number of clients/signers. In these cases, you’ll need to take some additional steps in order to set up your forms.

Unlocking adding signatures and initials to locked forms
In most cases your interactive templates will be locked. These forms already contain the fields you need to complete them, and will work in most situations. What if you have a third signer though, and need to add an additional set of signatures and initials? What if you need to initial a change? You open your document, go to the add menu, and notice that ADD SIGNATURE and ADD INITIALS is locked and prompts you that adding the field has been disabled at the request of the owner of this form.
What this means is that the owner of the form (your brokerage or association) has not enabled adding additional signatures or initials to the document. This however can be changed by your brokerage or association, and once they make the change, you'll just need to add a new copy of the document to your loop and you'll now be able to add the fields!
Creating a PDF copy
Begin as you normally would by adding the forms you need and fill out any information that is pertinent. It's a good idea to fill out the form to completion before moving onward. After this, you'll need to use the MAKE A COPY feature and select the option to copy the file as a flat PDF in the loop.
From here, you'll see a new copy of the file at the top of your list of documents. Open this, and you'll see the full array of document editor options, including the option to add signatures to the form. You can now add any signatures of initials to the document that are needed, leaving you free to add the correct amount of signing fields for your clients.
Unlocking templates
If you know there is a certain template that you will need to modify regularly you can always make an unlocked copy to add to your templates. What this entails is creating your own template folder, then making a flat PDF copy of the template into the folder. We can now utilize the apply template feature to apply the fields onto the document, thus leaving you with a fully customizable and unlocked template!
To do this, start by creating a new folder in your templates.
Now, find the template you wish to unlock and choose to MAKE A COPY of the document, choosing to COPY AS FLAT PDF and copying TO TEMPLATES. We'll now select the folder we just created and copy the document.
Let's now navigate to the flattened copy of the document in our folder and open the document. We'll now want to choose APPLY TEMPLATE under the FILE menu.
We'll navigate to the original template and choose APPLY.
We'll now have a fully unlocked interactive template!
